The birth of Fabulous Fab
Actor- Bodyguard/Bouncer  - Chef - Bartender

In the mid to late  90's, life was a lot of fun. It seemed money was growing on trees for most people back then and things were more liberal (Smoking was still allowed in most places and cigar lounges were popping up all over)
Possessing a burning passion for cooking, an opportunity came up and I started my carer in the kitchen, first small stuff, salads, pizza, appetizers, etc...then sous-chef and finally Head Chef (which also brought me for one year in the Caribbean (St.Kitts)
In the meantime, recently divorced, I decided to beef up a bit and started to work as a bouncer in some petty cool and happening bars throughout the city. Those days it was all about Studio 69, Paparazzi, Palazzo,  StillLife/Fluid Lounge, The Swimming Pool, Don Cherry's Sports bar, Klub Max, The Saloon and many others (At one time or another, I worked in all those places) While working as a bouncer in the VIP section of the clubs and ,as you see, sporting a pretty unique look, I got to meet a lot of  celebrities, mobsters, sports heroes, lawyers, bikers and cops, actors, musicians, businessmen and a LOT of women. So,  people would ask me to do some extra or stunt wotk for their tv/movie show, or bodyguard work, or  go work in other clubs, restaurants, strip joints,as a bartender, Chef, Bouncer, whatever .
I was in demand, had the look and now I needed a name with which to brand myself.

Thus, Fabulous Fab was born!

Photo taken at my loft, by Mondo Lulu, a legendary photographer of our times! Check his stuff out, or contact me for further details.

Just before going completely blind for a few weeks in 2007, I could not see well from my right eye, so I wore this patch ! The ladies liked it and they would often ask to have pictures taken with them. Never seen a real live Pirate before?.. I miss the patch!

Bartender at Fontana Gardens

Fun years, for me and my buddy Claudio, bartending  wasn't a job, we looked forward to how much of a good time we were going to have and make lots of money too, while making fun of the bride and groom or the drunken uncles.
Just as when I was bouncing or cooking, I served more drinks to myself  than the customers. But in order to work the nightlife, you have to be a little bit crazy and the normal does not apply to you.
It's a well known fact that most of the chefs, bartenders and club staff  in the world are either alcoholics, womanizers, junkies or gamblers. So I too became a statistic and became 1 or 2 or 3 of the above mentioned personalities. Missing one of the four ain't bad, so, no dope for me, thanks ! I have morals! Ha-ha!

The Artist

Picture
This was a painting I did to experiment with a new canvas. It is a painting  called "Somebody or Nobody", taken from a penand ink drawing  I did for the front cover page of  my poetry book by the same title.
The painting is made with acrylic paint and the canvas is a 3' * 5' ofice ceiling tile. It was hard because the canvas was very porous, thereby  absorbing a lot of  paint.
It is part of a set of 2. The other one seen below is entitled "Nonni at Heaven's door" and I gave the set as a Christmas present to my nephew, Anthony and my niece,  Daniela.

Somebody Or Nobody
